Thomas Deiß received his degree in computer science in 1990 and his Ph.D. in 1999 from the University of Kaiserslautern, Germany. He joined Nokia in 1999. Since then, he has contributed to standardization on automated testing and worked in requirements engineering for backhaul functionality of WCDMA and LTE base stations with a focus on backhaul sharing among radio technologies. He has participated in the EU H2020 projects 5G-Crosshaul and 5G-TRANSFORMER where he contributed in the areas of software-defined networks and network slicing.
