Full potential of Network Slicing, not 5G only

For IEEE the potential of Network Slicing is not only obtained with the 5G but it would also be possible in the 4G. This is because Network Slicing is possible thanks to the introduction of SDN and NFV in operators’ mobile telecommunications networks. IEEE contemplates the option of using Network Slicing in 4G networks through the Evolved Packet Core (EPC) in order to offer several services to different verticals.

This presentation will show the vision of IEEE on Network Slicing that although it is one of the future pillars of 5G, it can also be a tool for operators to offer new services through 4G. Everything would depend on the maturity of the NFV and SDN deployments in the operators’ networks.
