Dr. Xi Li is a Senior Researcher in the 5G Networks R&D group at NEC Laboratories Europe, working on 5G mobile fronthaul/backhaul networks. She received her PhD from the University of Bremen, Germany (2009) and her MSc from Technische Universität Dresden, Germany (2002). From 2003 to 2014 she worked at the Communication Networks Group in the University of Bremen, Germany, where she led several R&D projects and from 2014 to 2015 she worked as a solution designer for Telefonica Germany GmbH & Co. OHG, Germany. Her research interests mainly include optimization and orchestration of 5G fronthaul/backhaul (Crosshaul or Xhaul) networks based on SDN/NFV, dimensioning and planning of mobile transport network, QoS/QoE measurement and assessment, traffic engineering and load balancing, Multihomed flow management in heterogeneous wireless networks. She is also actively contributing to standardization on Microwave/mmWave modeling in IETF. She has participated in the EU H2020 projects 5G-Crosshaul and 5G-TRANSFORMER as the Work-Package Leader where she contributed in the areas of context-aware service/resource orchestration and network slicing.
